Teacher's Workshop

Each fall season, the Young Patronesses of the Opera holds a Teacher's Workshop which trains over 100 Miami-Dade County music teachers from public, private and parochial schools on how to broaden a child's horizon by exposing them to opera in the classroom. We work closely with the Miami-Dade County School board to offer a quality program. Teachers use valuable lessons in history, literature, theater, creative and critical writing as well as music appreciation.

The 2009 Teacher’s workshop was held on Friday, October 30th at the Coral Reef High School. It was a wonderful workshop with speakers such as: Michael Robinson, FCAT specialist and Our Educator of Note winner plus performances from Florida Grand Opera's Young Artists, Coral Reef High School students, and a wonderful lunch!

Stay tuned for information about next year's Teacher's Workshop which will be in October 2010.
