JOG 2024 2025 Members

About the Junior Opera Guild

JOG combines social and educational activities in its efforts to encourage the civic, cultural and organizational responsibilities of its young members. The members raise funds to support the Florida Grand Opera (“FGO”)/YPO Voice Competition and opera educational programs. They attend meetings and learn the importance of working as a group, handling a budget, planning events and fundraising. The members also volunteer at FGO opera performances in Miami.

Activities & Fundraising

All JOG members are required to attend monthly group meetings as well as participate in social events, the YPO Gala, the Holiday Service Project and the end of year Brunch. In addition, the members plan fundraising events throughout the year and volunteer at YPO’s Girl Scout Workshop.

For many years, JOG has made several significant contributions to support YPO’s Opera Funtime, In-School Opera, the Young Artist Studio/Florida Grand Opera Ensemble and the University of Miami opera program. In addition, JOG fundraises to award the $10,000 top prize at the bi-annual FGO/YPO Voice Competition.
